“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.” – Fred Rogers

Autism
Autism is characterized by challenges with repetitive behaviors, communicating and forming relationships with other people, speech and nonverbal communication, and in using abstract concepts. Typically, it appears within the first three years of life.
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar Disorder is defined by unusual shifts in mood, activity levels, and energy (alternating between periods of depression and elation). There are several types of bipolar disorder; all of them are uniquely characterized by clear changes in mood, activity levels, and energy.
Depression
Depression is characterized by severe symptoms that can affect how you think, feel, and handle daily activities. To be diagnosed with depression, symptoms (e.g. persistent sadness, decreased energy, irritability, loss of interest, and suicidal thoughts) must be present for at least two weeks.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a disorder marked by a constant pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity. This disorder makes it difficult for a person to control impulsive behaviors or to pay attention. A person with ADHD may be restless and almost constantly active.
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
ODD is a childhood disorder often characterized or exhibited through disobedient, hostile, aggressive, and defiant behaviors. These behaviors are persistent and frequently shown by the child towards parents or other figures of authority like older adults in the household, their coach, or their teacher in school.
Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
Children or adolescents who frequently show angry outbursts on a daily basis are likely to have this condition. Symptoms usually surface before the child turns 10 years of age. Sometimes, a child as young as 6 years old can already be diagnosed with this disorder when he or she reacts to situations more aggressively than peers. Children who suffer from this disorder often have mood issues such as irritability, sadness, and anger.
Conduct Disorder
Conduct Disorder is an emotional and behavioral disorder which can become pretty serious if not treated properly. This condition can occur in teens and children who chronically refuse to obey rules or have difficulty following instructions. It is important to note that following rules does not come naturally for most children but when the behavior becomes chronic and the child constantly violates the rights of other people without any remorse, parents must consider taking action as soon as possible.
Insomnia
Insomnia is a sleep disorder that is characterized by an inability to sleep or staying asleep. Insomnia typically leads to lethargy, daytime sleepiness, mood swings, and a feeling of being unwell (both physically and mentally).
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is characterized by disturbing and unwanted images, thoughts, and urges (obsessions) that intrude into a person’s mind. These thoughts and obsessions can cause a lot of discomfort and anxiety, which the person then tries to reduce by engaging in repetitive mental acts or behaviors (compulsions).
Panic Disorder
A type of anxiety disorder, Panic Disorder is characterized by fear and anxiety that arise frequently and often without reasonable cause. It causes panic attacks (sudden periods of intense fear that include palpitations, shortness of breath, numbness, or a feeling that something catastrophic is about to happen).
Phobias
A Phobia is a type of anxiety disorder. It is defined by an excessive and persistent fear of a situation, a place, or an object. If you have a phobia, you may experience a deep sense of panic or terror when you encounter the source of your fear.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a terrifying or traumatic event (i.e. serious injury, warfare, sexual assault). Symptoms can include nightmares, flashbacks, and uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
Postpartum Depression
More than just the “baby blues” (mild depressive symptoms that usually clear within two weeks after delivery), Postpartum Depression is a major depression experienced during pregnancy or after delivery. It is characterized by anxiety, sadness, and exhaustion that may make it difficult for new mothers to care for themselves and/or for their babies.
Psychosis
Psychosis is used to refer to conditions that affect the mind wherein a person’s thoughts and emotions become so impaired that they lose contact with external reality. People who are experiencing psychosis may have either delusions and/or hallucinations. They may see or hear things that do not exist.
Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a severe and chronic mental health disorder. It can affect how a person feels, thinks, and behaves. People with schizophrenia may seem like they have lost touch with external reality. It is characterized by hallucinations, delusions, lack of motivation, and trouble with concentration and thinking.

They are afraid of being negatively evaluated, being judge, or being rejected. Many people with this disorder can also experience physical symptoms, such as palpitations, nausea, and full-blown panic attacks.
Stress
When faced with challenging situations, Stress is a natural human response. You can experience stress from your body, thoughts, and environment. Experiencing stress is a normal part of life. However, if it starts to negatively affect your ability to cope or if it lasts for a long time, it can have a negative impact on your health, relationships, and overall quality of life.
